When I moved back to Halifax in 2008 I did what all photographers do: “Check out the local photographers before launching my marketing”. At the time, because the Gardens were so over used for grad portraits and weddings, using the same angle and same locations for so many years there seemed to be a backlash from photographers of the “same old same old”. One photographer was even bold enough to say if you are looking for a wedding session at the Gardens than perhaps “I am not the photographer for you”. So, I bought into it all and have never used the Public Gardens for an engagement session. Enter Nicole and Gerry who booked me completely online and I had never met prior to our session. They requested an engagement session at the Gardens. I said “sure let’s rock the Gardens”. As artists we need to try new angles, explore texture and light and above all – have an open mind! The Gardens are beautiful and I learned a lesson in the journey 🙂
Tomorrow I will be sharing the day with Nicole and Gerry for my last wedding of the season and I already feel like we are old friends!
